India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

Very disappointing. The low number of Indian patrons at this place (despite this being one of the neighborhoods of the metro with a large Indian population) shows the quality of the food.

Maybe it's just that I've gotten used to the Americanized versions of Indian cuisine but I can't say that I was terribly impressed with the food here. I've been to a few Indian food buffets across the cities and this restaurant has the standard dishes served at most of them. Everything I had was really flavorful; although the chicken in the curry was still left on the bone and didn't have much meat on it. The tandoori chicken was also a little dry but decent. My favorite part of lunch was actually finishing the meal with their rice pudding (kheer).
(3)Ben R.
Decidedly subpar Indian buffet that is priced way too high for the crap you get. Options are limited and not very tasty. The buffet is close to the kitchen and the general age/wear-and-tear in that area made me afraid to see what the kitchen must look like. They do a great job of refilling your water every five seconds, and also slamming the glasses down violently on the table after doing so. And reaching across your table while you're eating to adjust the thermostat. Won't be back.

Went for the lunch buffet. Very good food. Not the usual run off the mill buffets in Indian restaurants in US. The variety was excellent even for the vegetarians. Highly recommended.
(4)Abhishek R.
Evening Snacks in veg. not good. May be something else is good. Service rude. Not to picky eater but this was very different. I ordered veg platter. Soup and gobhi.. All thumbs down in taste. Check for too much oil and salt....

This is another favourite lunch-time stop for myself and a co-worker. We have very much enjoyed their lunch-time buffet. The food is always fresh, hot, and quite quite tasty. The breads (especially the naan) are also quite fresh and served warm. Some places let things sit too long, but the Best of India always keeps things changed up. All their dishes have the right amount of spice that will appeal to a general audience, but definitely not bland. The richness of flavours is quite appealing. The meat used is good quality. The staff is attentive, not exactly outgoing, but efficient, effective and never leaving one feeling ignored or unappreciated.
(4)David K.
Pretty good. We went for dinner and did the meal for two. The appetizers were fried a little too long and crispy tough, but the rest was good. They have a new naan bread the uses cranberries. I liked the slight sweetness of the naan bread with the spicy dishes.

I've driven past this place countless times since moving to St. Louis Park and never gone in. Eventually my wife and I decided to give the neighborhood spot a try. And we weren't disappointed! First impressions were mixed, with only two other tables full on a Saturday night, but things quickly turned around. The food was fresh, flavorful and was exactly what I wanted it to be. The garlic naan in particular was great. It was extremely fresh, light, fluffy on the inside with that awesome crunch on the outside. Don't let the lack of other diners deter you, this place does a big take out business, we saw half a dozen people come through while we ate to pick up dinner. So glad we have a place like this within walking distance, we'll be back!
(4)Abhijeet A.
Sitting is cozy. Samosa, Garlic naan, Dal tadka and chicken tikka was amazing. If you are eating Gulabjamun for the first time, dont eat it here. If its not your first time, you will know why. We arrived well before closing time [1 hour] , still our server was in extreme hurry. He made us order as if it was last call. Every action of his was shouting at us "you should have arrived 2 hours earlier". obviously didn't feel welcome at all, so despite of good food I wont be going back.
(3)Holley V.
Love the buffet and the chai! Good service and cozy atmosphere. I'd suggest this place to anyone looking for a solid lunch buffet on weekdays.
(4)Rachel Y.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. When I lived in Minnesota (across the street from the restaurant), I was a regular, stopping in for the Lunch buffet or dinner at least 1-2 times per week. They say you never appreciate what you have until it's gone, and that's certainly the case for me with Best of India. I have not been able to find comparable Indian food ANYWHERE (except maybe when I visited India). It's authentic and not watered down like so many other Indian places in the area. The Lunch buffet has great variety, always salads, meat and veg options for entrees, naan, and kheer (rice pudding) or gulab jamun for dessert. Their raita is my favorite of all time. Writing this review makes me wish I could stop by for lunch today. Definitely get the chai - it's fresh and delicious. My favorite dish was the palak paneer, but pretty much everything is good. You just can't go wrong. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. Service is friendly and attentive. When I come back to visit friends and family, this will be stop #1!
(5)Sriya P.
Taste of india which is about mile from this place is ten times better. This place has bad food, and bad service. I went to this place three times because I like to give benefit of doubt. All three times I was disappointed. Their gulab jamun is the worst ever. Their chicken tikka masala was horrible too. Avoid this place if you can.

It took moving all the way to San Diego and trying every conceivable Indian restaurant here to realize just how good Best of India is. If there is one thing I miss about the Twin Cities, it is this restaurant. My girlfriend and I used to live across the street from this hidden gem in Saint Louis Park, and boy do we miss it. The food was always so delicious. We used to get the lunch buffet to go almost once a week. It is very reasonably priced and features delicious food. Yes, there is not a huge selection, but the items they have are always made very well and kept us coming back. Their garlic naan (bread) is so incredible that we could eat it by itself and be very pleased. But it is even better with the food. We've also gone to dinner dozens of times there and have tried almost every item on their huge menu. Vegetarian or not, their dishes were phenomenal. Oh, and you should try their chai. There are many places in Uptown Minneapolis that make bold claims about having the best chai in town -- lies. They do not even compare to Best of India's. I used to bring new people to try Best of India and they have all become regulars. Since I can no longer do that because I live in California, I decided to write this review to encourage as many people as possible to try it.
(5)Hemant T.
I have been to best of India twice now and the food and service is just as bad. First trip was with my wife in 2012 and today I visited with friends. The buffet selection/size was okay, but the food was not good. The Tandoori chicken was burnt to the point that the bones were disintegrating on touch. When a friend asked for another spoon, the server pointed to the one he already had and asked him to use that spoon only! If someone drops their spoon by mistake, too bad, you have suffer! I wont be visiting Best of India again.
(1)Sonja P.
I had the buffet. So many different things to try and not too spicy. I wanted to go back for more but it was so full. Good that makes you want to go home and take a nap.
(5)Amar S.
As a person of Indian origin I can tell you that they have have excellent and authentic Indian food. All their veg and non veg dishes are mouth watering delicious. 5 stars all the way.
(5)BK J.
Hard to believe I hadn't reviewed BoI before now. I have been going there since they opened years ago. Back when they opened I would have ranked them five stars, but one of the partners (the original chef) moved on for reasons unknown and the quality declined. I am happy to report that they have gotten their groove back for the most part, so four stars it is. We usually get take out and only rarely hit the buffet so this review is for take out. The flavors are nicely balanced and have the complexity that you expect from good Indian food. We usually order medium spicy and that leaves the one with low tolerance with a light sweat and me with that smile on my face. They are very accommodating with vegan and vegetarian diets. Their veggie samosas are almost as good as the ones from Curry n'Noodles down the road in Hopkins. I'm very happy to have BoI a few blocks from home.
(4)Ginger B.
Decided to try based on others' positive reviews. Definitely enjoyed our meals, but not sure what to make of the service. As others mentioned, the older gentleman - who waited on us most of the time - was rude. He spoke quickly and quietly, without looking at us, body turned away from us, answering questions with one-word responses. After we ordered, he took our menus out of our hands without a word. Later when he brought our food, he set it down without a word, and seemed annoyed to have to keep refilling our water. It was so surreal that I actually wondered if there was a hidden camera or some secret code word I had to say in order to get on his good side. When I ordered a spice level 3 (out of 4), he was visibly shocked and asked me to confirm. After that, I think I gained some level of his respect, because he wasn't quite so curt after that. At times, the younger gentleman brought us water and our take-home containers. He was much more pleasant and should probably be given more customer-facing time. I'm still wondering if extreme discourtesy is supposed to be some sort of unique charm for this place, because the behavior was pretty far outside of the norm. Enjoyed our meals (Dhansak and Gobi Manchurian), but next time we'll try the takeout.
(3)Marsha W.
Word. This isn't the *best* Indian restaurant I've eaten at but it certainly isn't the worst. I would say that I had a "neutral" experience at this restaurant. I wish I could give my review 2.5 stars (an average rating) but I'll give it 3 instead. I ordered the saag paneer and a chai tea. Both had met or exceeded my expectations. The décor at this place is nothing to write home about but I didn't come here for the décor. I typically eat Indian food because 1.) I have food allergies and can't eat a lot of other foods 2.) I simply don't have the dedication or culinary know-how to cook it myself. The service? I thought it was just OK. I mean, a lot of Yelpers seem to go on and on about how terrible the service was. The guy who took my order seemed nice enough and the wait for the food was reasonable. The guy wasn't overflowing with bubbly Indian charm or looked like he was going to bust out some dance moves from a Bollywood movie but he seemed alright. I would eat here again if I were in the vicinity.
(3)Karl B.
Went for the lunch buffet last week and was not disappointed. Not sure what others experienced with the bad service, but the waiter was prompt with water refills and made brief chitchat. The food was great and the price was reasonable - I'll be back again for lunch, and might just try dinner, too!
(4)Alyssa B.
Love it! The food is delicious and the service is wonderful
(4)JC C.
Great food, awesome lunch buffet, nuff said. My favorite Indian joint in Minneapolis. Try it, you'll like it.
(4)Crystal T.
Yuck! Should be called "Worst of India'. Paneer tikka masala was bland and thick. Tasted like tomato paste from a can. Naan was thick and soggy. Goat byrani is mainly rice with little meat. Spices and flavor lacking. Watch out for anice (licorice) flavor in this dish. Will not return.
(1)Jessica E.
This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant! Definitely the best Indian food in town and I've been to at least a half dozen other places - no one else beats them. The food is aromatic with the perfect blend of spices. I usually get the chicken tikka masala, but have also tried the palak paneer, chana masala, and alu gobi - all wonderful! I could live off of their masala dishes and garlic naan. The buffet also has a great selection and I'm looking forward to going back soon! The staff is always friendly and courteous, which is another reason why I love going back over and over again! Restaurant is always clean and the ambiance is very pleasant. Like I said...I'm looking forward to going back soon! Update: It's about one year later and after still venturing around and trying other places, Best of India is still, hands down, not only my favorite Indian restaurant, but flat out my favorite restaurant. My husband and I go here on a regular basis and while his fav dish is still palak paneer, my new fave is the chana bhatura. He's more of a buffet fan, while I'm more of a menu fan (I like my food spicy - the buffet is mild so all can enjoy). I noticed a review that said he/she went in and there were no Indians there. This person must have been there at an odd time, because virtually every time we visit, we see Indian people coming in for take out or sit down. And after well over 20 visits within the last year, I think you can take my word on the clientele!

This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. They have an amazing coconut soup. Its rich but I recommend you all try it and share it with someone. Everything I have ever eaten there has been fantastic. Truly.
(5)Molly H.
To start, the food was delicious and the main reason for my 4stars. The service on the other hand not so much, maybe they were just having a bad day but it was bad. My husband and I stopped in for the lunch buffet on a Saturday and Instantly you could smell the aroma of all the different spices, YUM! We were promptly seated, asked did we want drinks and then left to wonder what to do. Where was the food, do we just go up, do they even have a buffet today? My husband ordered a beer twice and by the end of our meal he was still left with only a glass of ice water (needless to say the 4 stars i gave them are not from him). The entire place seemed to be run by two men, neither of whom even attempted to crack a smile. One of the men nearly took out my husband and his full plate of food and didn't even acknowledge his existence. Well, we finally noticed other customers heading toward the back of the restaurant and we followed and found the buffet filled with lots of different traditional Indian dishes. One thing I love is naan and I read how the weekend buffet had an extra assortments of breads, actually was the main reason for fulfilling my Indian cuisine craving today. Sadly, the only Naan or bread was Sesame and it was well picked over the entire time we were there :(. Big bummer. But overall the dishes had great flavor, especially the vegetarian biryani. I will definitely try this place again, maybe as take out next time.

Went for buffet, we recently moved to Minneapolis, i bookmarked a few restaurants based on yelp reviews which i always do,Best of India was must try in my list, but was not very satisfied. Food was good, but very few items on buffet, basic items which we usually find in any weekday buffets at any Indian restaurant. I usually expect more choices for a weekend buffet, as we pay more.
(2)Zack K.
I was excited to try Taste of India based on the great reviews. I tried there lunch buffet which is a bit on the spendy side at $9.99 for lunch. The food was spiced well and good, but I would save average for an Indian restaurant. The buffet had a wide variety. The only reason I won't be going back, is all the curries had bones in the meat. Lots of bones- and small ones, which makes it difficult to eat.
(3)Liuyin S.
Yes, the place is in the middle of a run-downy looking strip mall, but the interior is is not at all run down. True to its name, the place has (one of the) best of Indian cuisine you can get around the twin cities - from the standards of quality, price, and service. If you're going to go with a friend or two, I would highly recommend trying the "Dinner Specials for Two" - there are two types: regular and vegetarian. For $34.50, the regular special includes: 1) An appetizer of 2 veggie samosas, chicken and cheese pakora (dipped in batter and fried), fried naan, and papadom (potatoes cube things) - normally retails around $9.75. 2) A hotdish of tandoori chicken, shrimp, lamb kabob, seekh kabob (lamb), choice of any chicken/lamb curry ( ranges from $10.50 - $14) rice, and any choice of one bread ($2-$3.50). 3) And dessert - Rice Pudding! ($3) The portions are very sizable and can easily feed 3. If you choose to go the Vegetarian route, you'd get a choice of 2 veggie curries, rice and bread for $28.50. The curries range $8.50-$11.50 per dish, so if you do the math, if you get the max priced plates, you'd essentially get a free appetizer. Service was fantastic - quick and friendly, albeit a sight language barrier. Water glasses were always full and we got to try out a special spicy sauce; in addition, the owner, Autul, has a great memory and recognized one of my friends whom he'd met 3 years ago at another restaurant! If you can make it in for lunch, definitely try out the $10.99 lunch buffet that includes soda. The chef is skilled in many cultural dishes so you may find a little bit of Thai, Chinese, and American mixed in the buffet table offers!
(5)Prachee M.
I recently got a large take-out lunch order from here for 16 people. The managers went out of their way to load up each one with every item from the buffet, although I had asked them to skip a few. They packed the bread and dessert separately, and also some salad that I had requested. People loved it and commented that it was like home-cooked food. They have a new cook now. I was tremendously impressed with their service. And we had a lot of leftovers.
(5)Ann K.
Great naan, with perfect texture! Deliciously seasoned - we order medium, which is fully flavored, and just on the border of hot. The preparation leaves a good balance of texture, and the food is not overly oily. Staff is helpful with menu suggestions, and very tolerant of our exuberant toddler (and his mess). We're going back to try the buffet! Decor is clean and pleasant. Has a very local feel.
(5)Jared A.
Absolutely fantastic food! I had the mixed grill with lamb chicken and shrimp. Great staff; my waiter actually went to make my dish extra extra spicy! Definitely going to be back"
(5)Latha P.
Very poor customer service.Being busy doesn't qualify the waiters to be rude. Ramesh really needs a sit down session for customer service ! The restaurant needs to be inspected for cleanliness too. Going downhill !
(2)Candace V.
Unwelcoming, ungracious & unkind, server / host was as cold as ice. Couldn't get out of the place quick enough. Don't recall if the food was good or bad after this kind of treatment.
(1)Ken R.
Is there a buffet? Yes. Is it all there is? No. I always marvel at Eaters that complain about dishes made with the bones in place. What? You can't pick them out? As any good cook knows, cooking with the bone in is always better for flavor. The place is not perfect, AND you can't please everybody all of the time, but really, it is the best place in town. My wife and I go often enough and order take out a few times a month. The quality has always been quite good. It is my wife's favorite place, and she's been eating Indian food all her life. Another earmark of it's authenticity and quality; whenever we've gone to have dinner, there are whole Indian families having their meals there.
(5)Brittany S.
I am really not much of an Indian food fan and was hesitant to try this place when my husband suggested it for our Saturday afternoon lunch. However, I was feeling pretty adventurous and decided I would suck it up to make my husband happy. I'm so happy I did! When we got to the restaurant, we were greeted by a somewhat unfriendly gentleman, but we squeezed ourselves into a table and hoped the food would be better than the greeting we received. We were told that everything was buffet-style for lunch and were shown the buffet line... I have to admit, I almost walked back out of the restaurant right then! The food looked like a bunch of odd-colored mush, and I was not in a hurry to try it. My husband, however, convinced me to at least put a little bit of each thing on my plate and to keep an open mind. I was hooked after my first bite. While the food didn't look the most appetizing, it tasted absolutely amazing (and this is coming from someone who usually hates Indian food!)! The curries all had just the right amount of spice, and the meat melted in your mouth. Every last bit was delicious! If you can overlook mediocre service, you should definitely give this place a try! The food more than makes up for it!
(4)Beverly R.
They obviously have their regulars bc as a Californian I walked in, was immediately seated and then told, "you're first time" in a welcoming kind of way. I came in fairly early for dinner service (around 5 am) so the place was empty aside from a couple that hadn't received their dinner yet. I ordered the chicken biryani, the fried cauliflower dish and a naan. I sat fairly close to the kitchen and without a companion my senses were in full alert. I heard the blender, wisking, smelled wonderful aromas one can really only smell in an indian or middle eastern restaurant. My food arrived a few minutes later and WOW I was impressed. I come from a part of California affectionately known as little India so I have had some great Indian food and use those past experiences as my meter. Everything was extremelly flavorful and spicy!! Next time I'm in the Minneapolis area and craving some Indian food I will definitely hit this place up.

I went to Best of India with high hopes, as the place is near my office and, according to their website, has a chef who has worked under the legendary chef Satish Arora in India, and was also the personal chef to the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi. Clearly someone was exaggerating or lying outright, because the food at Best of India was woefully generic and mediocre, at best. What could one expect from a place in a 1970s strip mall on Minnetonka Blvd.? I've had better Indian food at unlicensed roadside stalls in Bombay. My alu gobi ($9.50), a standard North Indian dish, was missing at least one or two spices and was dry. The dish seemed bogged down in heavy oil and overcooked. This restaurant doesn't use fresh herbs and spices and the two key vegetables in the dish---cauliflower and potato---tasted like they were bought in bulk at the supermarket down the road. As such, the vegetables were mass-scale-industrial bland and the preparation was edible, but nothing more. The tandoori chapati bread was good, however. The service was decent. My waiter was a bit curt, but at least this restaurant allows you to order off the menu, rather than being forced to make-do at the buffet (I hate Indian buffets with a passion because they usually only have one or two vegan dishes at most and the food isn't fresh). The ambience inside is passable. It falls into the category of "tacky-upscale", with drab and dark colors, and paper napkins instead of cloth. It felt kind of musty inside as I don't think they get much business. The music playing was far too loud for my likes and was also too frenetic in style; low-key, quiet Indian instrumentals would have been better than whatever Bollywood blockbuster soundtrack they were playing. All in all, I am greatly disappointed. Low quality ingredients and compromised preparation make for a poor meal. Other than Nalapak and The Vegetarian, I haven't had good Indian food in the Twin Cities. I'd also recommend Namaste Cafe or The Himalayan, which are Nepalese, but have similar flavors and use fresh ingredients and have a light touch to their preparation.
(2)Monica S.
If I came here for the buffet I can almost guarantee that there would be more than 1 star to give. But all I wanted last night was a delicious chicken makahni and I was severly let down. Let me explain.. This is a buffet place. Look at their menu/website/trays of covered food you can see from the dining room. Doesn't seem as if much is made fresh. I can only assume the $16.00 chicken + rice + naan had been sitting stewing all day long. However, it tasted as if the chicken had all the love and tenderness sucked out of it. Dry cubes of sad chicken. The sauce was pretty garbage as well. Way too thick and after about 3 bites I was over it. Save your money and go somewhere else.
(1)John C.
First time patron and I loved it! Definitely have the garlic naan. I also ordered and very much enjoyed the garlic shrimp (ordered it spicey) and everything about it was perfect!!! Great service too! Oh and do partner the meal with a Taj Mahal beer. Definitely coming back on my next visit to MSP.
(5)Christine S.
This restaurant remains my favorite Indian in town. Some places may be fancier (ooh, cloth napkins), some in better locations (I don't really mind the strip mall) but this place has by far the best food. I highly recommend: Paneer Kadhai, Aloo Gobi, and Vegetable Green Masala. (all vegetarian) The naan is delish too. I could eat two or three of them for sure. I'm not a big buffet person... I tried the buffet and it was ok - about the same as other Indian restaurants. I'm not sure I've ever really been wowed by a buffet. I also like it a bit spicy - Best of India will make it this way on request - so I find the buffet dishes bland. If you're looking for tasty Indian food and good service, get over to the 55426 for Best of India.
(5)Carissa J.
We often order takeout from Best of India when we have Indian visitors in town who are craving their favorite dishes from home and the feedback we always receive from them is that Best of India is authentic, tasty and very good. The service is great and the lunch buffet is delicious and a good value as well.
(5)Katie R.
This place is by far the best, most authentic Indian restaurant- great service, wonderful food. I feel like I am cheating on this place if I go somewhere else.
(5)Elizabeth A.
This restaurant has the best Indian lunch buffet in town. There is a wide selection of items included everyday. They usually offer two types of naan, two rice flavors, and a variety of meat and vegetarian dishes. My favorite dishes are the Chicken Curry, Vegetable Pakora, and naan. I usually don't like vegetables too much, but I LOVE all of the vegetarian dishes they prepare. They are so flavorful. You can tailor the spice level to your liking as well. I recommend this place for fast take out too. They will have your order ready in 15-20 minutes. The staff is very attentive and courteous as well.
(5)Xiaoxuan J.
My fav indian place in minneapolis! Amazing variety at the buffet, awesome service and private atmosphere. I go there at least twice a week!
(5)Larry P.
Great neighborhood place, best chai in town, like going to a indian market try the lunch buffet the smells are amazing
(3)amy z.
This place was recommended to me by another Yelper (thanks Sarah) and we finally went. We decided to try the buffet and it was very good. There are not many places that have goat (yes I said goat) on a buffet. I like goat and was excited to try it along with all the other standard Indian buffet fare. The goat was tender and could have been a little more spicy (but that is my preference) but overall I was pleased. My other half was with me and he really enjoyed the food and the decor. We are definitely going back. (If you have never tried goat .... it tastes like lamb but leaner)
(4)Amy C.
This is my new FAV place to eat. It helps that it is less than a mile from my house, but I have friends that drive from South Minne to eat here. It is in an old strip mall, but don't let this fool you. The service is wonderful - the owner will typically wait on your table and if you're having trouble ordering - he will order for you and insist you try. Some people may find this offensive - I don't because he knows his native food better than I do! Also have a Taj Mahal beer - 22 oz of Indian beer - even though most don't drink in India. If you want the full experience you can ask them for "seeds and sugar" at the end of your meal and you get a traditional ramekin of fennel seeds and sugar to end your meal.
(4)Jennifer S.
My absolute favorite restaurant in the twin cities. Food is amazing. Staff is awesome. The owner is there many times. The buffet is unbelievable. I love that there's flesh and not flesh dishes. It's wonderful for a vegemetarian. I eat here waay more often than I should and will continue doing so. Everything I've ever eaten there is amazing. Sixteen stars YO!
(5)Dr F.
Good stuff! Will be back.
(4)sarah p.
This here pregnant lady rolled into Best of India huuunnnggrrryy for the 7.98 all you can eat lunch buffet. And it was good. No, I mean truly good, and that's my taste buds and not my hormones talking. Actually reminded me of my honeymoon in India good. Best I've had in the Cities hands down. They even have take out! Can you give a 6th star??
(5)Jim P.
Wow, fantastic buffet lunch.
(4)Zachary S.
I cannot control myself around Indian food. Give me a great lunch buffet (or dinner for that matter) at a good price and I will eat myself sick. Hold me back! Not the greatest location or the greatest decor, but the food is wicked good. Besides, you can go to AxeMan a few doors down and pickup all the stuff you don't need.
(5)Jen M.
The food at this restaurant rivals some of the best authentic South Asian home cooking I have tasted. I am thrilled to have found such an amazing little place so close to home. I'll definitely be back - and often!

Came here for the buffet and having been to at least a half dozen Indian restaurants in the twin cities, I was disappointed. Yes, I love holes in the wall and can forgive that the buffet is actually in a service area that smells of bathroom deodorant. However, the food didn't really make up for it. Somehow the food seemed greaser than most indian restaurants, had lower quality meat and not a ton of flavor. The "chicken lollipops" that I think we're supposed to stand in for tandoori chicken tasted like deep fried chicken wings. Also they had spring rolls (?) instead of pakora. In this area I'd recommend Taste of India by the doubletree or Curry N Noodles in Hopkins.

Take out was ready within 20 minutes. We ordered the Chicken Green Masala (Very Good), Lamb Sahi Korma (Awesome), Palak Paneer (Good). The restaurant was super clean and in a good location for SLP. I'll come back.

This is one of my favorite Indian lunch buffets, spitting distance from work and home (though I have Taste of India closer to the latter). They have papadum, which is often missing at Indian buffets, and they have really nice vegetarian and meat dishes. Nothing that makes your head spin, just consistently good North Indian food. And their iced tea is AWESOME, simply iced black tea.

despite the bad memories this place causes me due to the closure of its neighbor, the amazing new york city bakery (best salt sticks and bialys known to minnesotan man), the pleasure that this lunch buffet brought me makes me want to count the seconds before this gem has a line out the door longer than the upcoming new kids on the block reunion tour (WTF?????). they are still trying to figure out the timing of when to bring things out- so you may have to wait for the rice or the naan, but i would wait for godot for that spicey, perfectly cooked, best indian buffet ever. i had gotten some take out a couple days before, chicken korma (get it medium spiced at least) and some lamb naan, just to test them out. getting korma is like getting pad thai at a thai place, good first item to get as predictor. it was goooooood. ordering off the menu, not surprisingly, is better than the buffet. the buffet is still better than ordering off the menu at any other indian restaurant in mpls. go

I have written the review about Taste of India and someone asked me whether I have tried Best of India. Well I did not. This is a classic example of turning away the customer. We went there one time asking about availability of certain dish or something. And we were given a blunt answer of not having it and we were not even asked if we can try anything else. Then we assumed that the customer service will not be that good. This is contrary to the experience we had in Bombay Bistro South Indian in downtown Minneapolis. We went there off-time when the restaurant was closed and the owner said - Though we are closed,we can give you some rice and curry if you want and we won't charge you. Great!!!

The food is good here. They have one of the largest buffets (for Indian food) I have ever seen, you get to eat a bunch of different dishes, mmmmmmm. The downside - wait staff here is atrocious. One waiter in particular is really one of the rudest I've come across.

I'd rate this a little higher because I did enjoy the food here, but there's just something about the service that I did not like. First off, I've been to the lunch buffet. They're pretty good, not amazing or anything, just good. They give you the right amount of choices. I did a take out here and it was awful. Not the food itself, because THAT was pretty dang amazing and on point. I asked for medium-hot level of spicyness and they get an A+ for that. However, the owner was this grumpy, old person that didn't really want to deal with his customers. I don't know if that meant he was having a bad day, but he was really impatient when I wanted to use my card to pay instead of cash. His little register was kinda slow. (He double charged me so I called him back the next day. Same grumpy self.) Not only that, they made a mistake with my order. I ordered chicken curry, not chicken tikka masala. Do they think I don't know the difference??? Hahaha... I've been eating Indian food since college. I think I know the difference.
